Russian antitrust again delays hearings on Google fine amount
MOSCOW, May 31 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has again postponed hearings on the amount of the fine to be imposed on Google, which was found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the local market of preinstalled application stores, the authority said Tuesday in a post on Twitter.
“Consideration of the case on Google was delayed due to the respondent’s petition,” the antitrust service said.
A spokesperson for the service said a new date will be most likely defined by June 6.
In late April, the service’s Director Igor Artemyev said that its fine for Google would be much lower than the one threatening the company in Europe.
In 2015, the European Commission opened an antitrust investigation against Google, which can face a fine exceeding U.S. $6 billion.
